Dental Sealants
Your teeth naturally have grooves and depressions on their biting surface. These act like traps for micro particles of food debris that can result in bacterial growth and subsequent decay on the horizontal surface of the tooth.
Dental sealants consist of an acrylic coating that is thinly applied to the grooves of each tooth. Once applied, the coating acts like a strong barrier to deposits and bacterial growth. The procedure is quick, totally painless and offers a significant degree of protection against tooth decay for many years.
We routinely apply dental sealants to many of our patients' teeth, and consider it a virtual necessity for our younger patients.
